Cinema almanac “This is Ukraine, baby!”
“This is Ukraine, baby!” – is a feature almanac, containing of 8 short films of different genres about Ukraine.
Each city has its soul; heart of any city is people who live in it.
Heroes of almanac films are ordinary and unusual people, who live next door to us, of different ages, professions, with different fates.
Almanac is based on stories of talented authors from CIS (contest among more than 260 received scripts).
Scripts of the almanac:
- “The torn pocket”, comedy, romance,
- “The guardian angel”, action,
- “The last knight”, comedy, action,
- “Test for courage”, action movie, romance, comedy,
- “Werwolf”, mystery, thriller,
- “Things”, drama,
- “The opera star”, drama.
- “On the edge”, drama.
“There was a contest on the best scripts of almanac films, then directors were chosen by the organizational committee, moreover, professional education was not the main criteria”, notices the president of “CinemaHall” Illia Svidler.
So, I would like to write about selection criterion, announced by Illia.
Primarily, organizational committee of “CinemaHall” paid attention to the previous creative experience of directors, such as films.
The choice was made towards directors, whose films:
1) Are popular and loved by the audience,
2) Are the winners and nominees of international and national film festivals, participants of international film markets,
3) Are made on a qualified technical and ideal levels,
4) Referred to film genre,
5) Were in TV or cinema distribution.
“Certainly, those are directors, with whom “CinemaHall” had experience of cooperation, which could be recommended by friends of organization or the team” – noticed Illia Svidler, We need to know, that we work with people, who work on project and finish it”.
Pavel Kovtyn
He is the director of films “Love accidents”, “Deadline”, “The first step” and etc. His film “Deadline” got prizes at the festivals “The pearly star”, “Kinomedia” and etc. Film “Love accidents” was watched by more than a million of Internet users.
Alexander Onyfriev
He is the director of the films “Reality”, “Relation souls”, “Virus” and etc. The film “Reality” is a winner of the festival “KiTy”, laureate of the festival “Slavic fairy tale” (Sofia, Bulgaria). His actor’s experience includes more than 60 roles in movies and on TV; experience of director’s work in TV projects on national channels.
Dmitriy Golumbevskiy
He is the director of the films “Circulation”, “Inspired by Zhitomyr”, “Epic Thailand” and etc. The film “Circulation” was the first short film, created in Zhitomyr, that had success in a regional cinema distribution.
Vladymyr Vlasenko
The director of the films “Damage”, “Everybody needs milk”, “Somewhere” and etc. The film “Somewhere” gor a prize of the festival “Zaporizhzhya Cinerama”; the film “Damage” is a winner of festivals “Cinema under the starts”, “Ranok”, “The can”.
Maryna Grishay
She is the director of the film “Journey to the iron birds”, almanac “Vertebrae” and etc. The film “Journey to iron birds” got grand prix of the cinema festival “Young television named after Vladymyr Chubasov” and a special prize named after Andrey Benkendorf for the best direction, Winner of the cinema festival “Happy life”. “Vertebrae” is a Special event of the festival “Chestnut house” and a participant of the festival film screening “Calm and noise fest”, winner of the cinema festival “Young television named after Vladymyr Chubasov” in the nomination “stage video work” (for visual art) (2013).
Anna Rada
She is the director of the films “Dance”, “At the end of one’s toe”, “Childhood territory”, more than 2 films as part of projects in YCC “Artek” and etc. The film “Dance” is a winner of festivals “New horizon”, “Golden strip”, “Saint Anna”, “Scarlet sails”. In addition Anna is the alumna of the Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Directors.
Maxim Firsenko
He is a director of the films “Shabat”, “Generation”, “To sell Caravaggio”.
For this moment the project is on pre=production stage.
