There were participants from Ukraine, Poland, France and Lithuania. The mentor of the workshops was the ambassador of the WAMA Film Festival, the world famous film director Jerzy Hoffman.

The main theme of the film festival and workshops this year was human dignity. Based on this topic, the participants, under the supervision of experienced mentors, created stunning short films that are worthy of large screens and famous film festivals in the course of a week.

In addition to the invaluable experience, educational lectures and workshops, this trip gave a lot of smiles, laugh and fun. It connected such different and so similar at the same time dreamers from different countries. Despite differences in culture, customs and mentality, they all speak the same language – the language of cinema.

During the workshops participants will be able to:

• Listen to lectures and master classes from Polish cinematographers (script, directing, production, visualization, editing);
• Get acquainted with the peculiarities of the culture of European countries;
• Take part in the creation of films with teams from France, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine;
• Find new friends and get an interesting experience.

The films created by the participants in the context of the project will be presented to the audience at the final ceremony of the 5th WAMA Film Festival in Olsztyn (Poland).

The mentor of the project is the ambassador of WAMA Film Festival, the world-famous director Jerzy Hoffman.

The organizers of the project provide: travel (Lviv-Olsztyn-Lviv), accommodation and meals for participants.

Participation is free, on a competitive basis.

Requirements for participants:

• Age 16-30 years;
• Biometric passport / foreign passport with a Polish or Schengen visa;
• Knowledge of English (not below Intermediate level);
• Internship in the projects of the company KINOLIFE Distribution at the end of the program of the Ukrainian-Polish film workshops “Polsko-Ukraińskie Warsztaty Reportażu Filmowego” and “AdVenture – Youth Adventure in Social Advertising” (1 month).

On 5th-6th of December in Fedoriv Hub, Kiev, there was held “CG Weekend 2015″ International Conference.

The participants were able to attend master-classes by leading experts in computer graphics, 2D and 3D animation, design, post production, to get a chance of employment in the major media and post-production companies of Ukraine, to take part in the drawing of valuable prizes from the sponsors of the conference.

“Everything you want to know but were afraid to ask about working in the VFX” workshop by “Terminal FX” International Company and “TFX Workshop” CG School has opened a series of workshops and presentations. The company specializes in creating complex effects for feature films and commercials. Currently “Terminal FX” has been working with world leaders in this industry such as Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Katalyst films, MTV, 20th Century Fox, WWE Studios, Rebel Films and others. The uniqueness of the “TFX Workshop” is that they are the first school in Ukraine, where study all  future VFX-specialists on the basis of real projects. In the context of the master-class there was considered “Dragonheart 3: The Sorcerer’s Curse” Hollywood project, the work on which is managed by “Terminal FX”.

The sponsor of  “CG Weekend” Autodesk company has prepared special gift for all participants. VES Awards two-time nominee  (like “Oscar” in the world of special effects), Andrey Bogdanov held an exclusive master-class. In the context of the master-class there was described the creation of a digital location of Chernobyl nuclear power plant for “Butterflies” movie.

Answers for What you can print on the 3D-printer; how technology will change the future and many other questions the participants were able to get on the master-class by 3D-Volume Studio.

Concept-artist Tory Polska talked about the animation artist’s work principles and answered the question, why sometimes it is worth to sacrifice, at first glance, the best and perfect design solutions. As well the participants of the conference were able to find out what the concept is and why it sets the direction of the entire production.

To create one ready-structured 3D model from the idea is more than simple! On the presentation of 3D Coat was visibly demonstrated how to use this powerful software and solve range of important business issues.

In the context of the conference there was held an exclusive event – Job-session. Leading national and international companies have presented actual vacancies for specialists in CG, 2D and 3D animation, VFX.  The participants were able to communicate directly about employment with Top Managers and HR Directors of companies, among them: StarLightMedia Group (TV channels STB, ICTV, Novyi Kanal, M1, M2, QTV), RTI TV Channel, Coffeepost Postproduction Company, Panama Grand Prix Studio, Nanobotmodels Medical Animation Studio, Front Pictures Company, Darvideo Creative Graphics & Animation Studio, Looksery Company.

The film will be included to the almanac “Ukraine. Love. Cities”, the shooting of which will take place in 2014-2015. “The pocket torn” (comedy, romance) – the story of a young modest Odessa citizen Misha, whose aunt comes up with the idea to arrange private life of a certainly beloved nephew. Script of the film was in top 10 winners of the “CinemaHall” script competition.

Many producers often fall back only on some of the methods mentioned below, while bringing the results of work of the entire film crew and actors to naught.

1. Forget about such a word as “marketing”.
Your film is wonderful and the script great (kidding aside). There is no point in spending money on marketing, `cause people will come to watch it anyway.

2. Outdoor advertising and nothing extra.
If you have still decided to advertise your film, ATL must be your ace boon-coon British your best mate or your old bean (forget about BTL). Outdoor banner ad is the best one. Place your banner next to the banner of “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” or “Avatar 2”. Cinemagoers will definitely come to watch your film.

3. Marketing of the film is as easy as ABC!
All suggestions of PR and advertising agencies must be met by flat refusal. Communication with specialists will also take you nowhere. You can do it yourself just fine. Marketing of the film is like taking a candy from a child.

4. Start your PR campaign 2 weeks before distribution
Begin to think about marketing and PR a month or even 2 weeks before distribution. As the saying goes: cross the bridge when you come to it. Better go to some resort and “recharge your batteries” before the opening night.
And, of course, don`t forget about paragraph 3.

5. Social networks are evil.
Forget about Facebook, Twitter, Shooting People, Vk.com and other social media for there are no real people there, but only nerds! Promote your film only in regional printed media.

6. Market is everywhere the same.
Wherever you show your film – in CIS, Europe or Latin America, it will be perceived equally well. Don`t spend your time and money on market analysis and adaptation of the film to a certain region. Humor is international – the Russians and the Americans will surely laugh at the same things.

7. Shh – don`t tell anyone!
Don`t tell that you are shooting a film under any circumstances, until it is 100% ready. Don`t tell even if your friends ask you about it. Don`t tell, even if mass media invite you to give an interview. Don`t bloody tell, even if some distributor expresses their interest. Be careful, don`t put a jinx on it!

8. End-of-semester exams? What the hell?
The core audience of your film is youth and students, huh? Then it would be logical if the distribution starts during the exam week. It doesn`t really matter that the students will be busy studying to prepare themselves for the test, having sleepless nights, refraining from sex, chocolate and other pleasures. The film is good indeed, isn`t it?

9. Press-screening is not that necessary.
The information about your film will be available in mass media. There is no point in holding press-screening and inviting journalists to watch your film. They will go to the cinema themselves if they want. Plus you will avoid spending money on drinks and buffet, identity tags, printing of press-releases and rent of the venue.

10. Trust the chance
Fortune telling is the common way of forecasting incomes from distribution and stimulation of it. You can read tea leaves or cards, for example. As for marketing, BTL and PR – these are just dirty words, especially when the money for your film is given to you by the state. Save your time and nerves and let things happen as they will!

P.S.1 Dear colleagues! If you are counting on a good box-office and appreciate your film, work of actors and crew – never follow this instruction!
